Flood Forest of Amazonas

The Flooded Forest of Amazonas in Brazil is one of the most stunning places in the world. The flooded forests or the várzea is considered to be one of the Brazil’s natural wonders and hosts to a rich ecosystems that is present in the Amazon basin. The main reason behind this is its biological diversity, the wealthy yield from Amazonas forests and plentiful natural resources available in the region.

Flooded forests are located on the banks of Amazon basin, a rain forests rivers and alas mass of land that are lowland are inundated under water. The Flooded Forest stretches to an area of about 300,000 square kilometers which includes only 6 percent of the entire Amazon basin’s ecosystem. The natural resources they provide gives life to 1.5 million people who live in the area.

The Flooded Forest of Amazonas is located in the central part of the rivers of Solimões River. It is here that Mamirauá, an eminent flooded forest is found. It is one of the most picturesque landscapes in Brazil and has numerous animal and plant diversity. Today the region is under watchful preservation due to increased fishing activity by the locals that is causing extinction of few native fishes found in the region of Flooded Forest of Amazonas.

It is biologically rich and diverse region of the world having numerous plant and bird species and about ten percent of the mammals that ever existed in this world. You will be amazed to find about 400 insect species that lives amidst the rich vegetation of the forest.
